Back up and restore
Keep a copy outside the app before changing devices, deleting local data or removing Boat Records.
Choose the file for the job

Make a backup
- Open Records Export from Settings or your boat workspace.
- Check whether you are exporting the selected boat or all boats.
- Create the export you need and save it to Files, an external drive or another destination you control.
- Confirm the saved file or complete document package exists outside Boat Records.
Restore carefully
Open the restore/import option in Records Export and select the saved records JSON or complete document package. Review the import result, then check boats, tasks and representative original documents before removing your previous copy.
If an export or import reports an error, retain the original backup and existing records. Read the error and contact support before trying destructive cleanup.
Apple backup and Files
iPhone backup and iCloud Drive depend on your Apple settings, storage and chosen destination. Boat Records does not provide its own automatic cloud sync. A file that remains only inside the app is not an independent backup.
